Annie Malone Children & Family Services has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse!  

Shift: Monday - Friday


Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Residential Treatment, the Nurse monitors physical aspects of the client's health needs, including responses to medication and treatments. Provides health counseling and crisis intervention for clients. Assists in the maintenance of a therapeutic environment. The Nurse will provide medical health care services to clients per agency policy and procedures.



  • Trained in Safe Crisis Management (SCM)
  • Initial medical assessment and all SCM hold assessments
  • Assesses medical issues and any injuries then provides treatment and clinical recommendations as needed.
  • Track and monitor control medications
  • Obtain prior Authorizations for medications from insurance/Medicaid.
  • Ensure proper information is documented for insurance coverage. Communicate with clinical and milieu staff when admission documents are needed (Rx card, history)
  • Communicate with pharmacy to order medications, track medication refills and changes, new admits and disenrollment's
  • Prepare discharge medications (for 30 day)
  • Reconcile MAR
  • Ensure MAR is changed over monthly
  • Review any ER/hospital discharge medication orders obtain clarification as needed
  • Ensure medication changes in MAR
  • Weekly Calculate medication total doses passed
  • Prepare document with medication changes/treatment changes that occur
  • Notify clinical and milieu staff of medication or treatment changes after consent.
  • Answer any medication questions the legal guardian may have regarding medical treatment
  • Perform first aide as needed
  • Train medication certification
  • All other duties as assigned.



  • Licensed in the state of Missouri as a Registered/Licensed Practical Nurse
  • 3 or more years of experience as a LPN
  • Certification attesting to ability to adequately control, dispense, and record medications
  • Knowledge of community services, child development and basic health care
  • Effective oral and written skills with the ability to work with trouble youth
  • Basic computer skills including email, phone apps, etc.
  • Must possess a Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation required
  • Must have current automobile insurance for traveling between locations
  • Willingness to obtain a Class E Driver's License within 30 days of hire required
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States



  • Ability to evaluate and work effectively with youth with emotional and behavioral problems
  • Have patience and understanding with children; develop a sensitivity to the emotional needs of children
  • Ability to understand and implement a treatment/behavioral plan for disturbed, disabled or behavior disorder related youth.
